Received an EOB? Let us put your mind at ease.

If an Explanation of Benefits from your insurance company lists Commonwealth Surgical Professionals, you’re in the right place. An unfamiliar name and a page full of numbers can be confusing, and we’re glad you stopped by.

An EOB is not a bill

An Explanation of Benefits is a statement from your health insurance company that explains how a claim was processed. It is for your records, and it is not a request for payment.

Why you’re seeing our name

A CSP Surgical Assistant worked alongside your surgeon during your procedure. Insurance companies list every provider who took part in your care, so our name appears on your EOB.

You will never receive a bill from us

Our contracts are with the surgical facility where you received care, not with patients. Any billing between CSP and the facility is handled directly between us, so you will never receive a bill from CSP.

What It Looks Like

A quick look at a sample EOB

Every insurance company formats these a little differently, but here’s what to look for.

Illustrative sample with fictional information. The layout of your EOB will vary by insurance company.
  1. 1Look for wording like “This is not a bill” near the top of your EOB.
  2. 2Our name appears under “Provider” because a CSP Surgical Assistant took part in your procedure.
  3. 3The summary shows how your health plan processed the claim. It’s for your records.
